Canada trip for Under-18 players

TEN Far North Coast players have been selected in the NSW Country Under-18 rugby union team after their win in the NSW Country championship in Lismore at the weekend.

They are Alexi Coffey, Lachlan Winkler, Stephen Murchie and Glen Pollard (all from Casino); Vincent Chee, Alex Gibbon, Jason Higgins and Hamish Millane (all from Wollongbar-Alstonville); Joe Melino (Lismore) and Luke MacKenzie (Grafton).

Pollard was also named the best back of the championship.

The NSW Country Under-18s will tour Canada later in the year.

Far North Coast went through its four games at the championship undefeated, culminating in a 22-17 win over Hunter in the final at Oakes Oval.

In finals of other age divisions contested in Lismore at the weekend, Hunter defeated Far North Coast 24-0 in the Under-13s and Hunter cruised past Illawarra 27-3 in the Under-12s.
