Byron’s controversial Jonson St development will be reworked

THE proposal for the Jonson Street shopping centre is set to be reworked and resubmitted after a meeting between Byron Shire Council and the developer, Robert Badalotti last week.

Byron Shire Mayor Simon Richardson said the meeting between the parties was fruitful, open and ensured the council and the developer were both committed to creating a building that reflects the Byron look, feel and community.

Mr Badalotti said after listening to community feedback, he recognised there was a desire for a softer building that impacted less on the central location.

"I thank Robert Badalotti and his team for their genuine willingness to create a development that is financially viable whilst reflecting community aspirations," Cr Richardson said.
