Byron tradie wants a lady
THE laidback bachelor lifestyle isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, according to Byron local Nick Tregonning.
The 32-year-old landscaper would appreciate the company of a ‘solid, single girl’ to help him enjoy life.
But it seems such women are a rare breed in the tourist town.
Which is why Nick’s thrown his hat into the ring for a magazine’s matchmaking competition called Tradie Wants a Lady.
The contest is the brainchild of New Idea magazine, which has a stable of hunky men lined up and is today calling for women to hook them up with.
Nick is one of four eligible tradie bachelors from NSW who will join another six from around the nation.
“Each one of them is handsome, hardworking and looking for love,” New Idea’s contest organisers said.
In the coming weeks the tradies will choose their two favourite belles from the pool of entries.
The 30 contestants will be sent to a romantic resort, where they will go on a series of dates before the blokes choose their favourite lady.
Nick said he only entered for a bit of fun, but was still hopeful of meeting a soul mate.
“You never know what’s going to come out of it,” he said.
“It’s the simple things of life that make you happy.
“I love surfing, hanging out with friends, snowboarding, travelling and going to bands,” he said.
Sounds like a good life, and Nick admits he’s still a bit of a free spirit.
“But, if the right person came along, I wouldn’t think twice about settling down,” he said.
He is not willing to limit himself by opting for certain looks.
“The world is full of beautiful women,” he said, but he would settle for ‘just a nice, well-maintained, healthy girl who is loyal and honest’.
Nick has done a lot of travelling and his longest relationship is about 18 months.
But while he’s a bit rusty in the romance stakes he is looking forward to falling in love.
“I think everyone is looking for the one that makes your heart thump. I know I am.”
