Byron forum to assess NYE debacle

A PUBLIC forum will be staged in Byron Bay on January 26 sparked by widespread anger over the damage perpetrated on the town by visitors over the New Year's period.

The meeting, at the Byron Bay Community Centre starting at 6pm, will be in a question and answer format and will be moderated by former ABC journalist Mick O'Regan.

The panel will include local State MP and NSW Minister for local government Don Page; Jan Barham, a member of the NSW Legislative Council; Byron Shire Council mayor Simon Richardson and president of Byron United Paul Waters.

The forum is being staged in conjunction with Byron Shire Council and local newspapers the Byron Shire Echo and Byron Shire News.

Questions will be answered from the audience and should be submitted to editor@echo.net.au by January 23.
