Byron Film Fest at Lismore

IF you can't make it to the coast for the Byron Bay Film Festival, take a breath, because the Star Court Theatre, Lismore, will be bringing the best of the fest, presented by The Owners Club at Linnaeus, to town from tomorrow till March 15.

For the first time in the festival's seven year history, local film buffs will be able to head to the Star Court to explore their choice of over 35 films from around the globe packed full of Australian premieres for a week of captivating, stimulating and entertaining screen culture.

With a vibrant artistic community in Lismore, The Star Court Theatre has also decided to extend the BBFF2013 season with an extra screening of Virtuosi on Friday March 15 - a stunning and dynamic immersion in music and physical expression across the globe, about the passionate drive to become an artist and the special nature of virtuosity in dance.

The Naughty Room: Saturday March 9, 11.45am. $14, $12, $10 (members & students <18). Also screening with this feature are the short films "Angela Wright" and "Skogens Konge (King of the Forest)".

Lost and Sound: Saturday March 9, 2pm. $14, $12, $10 (members & students <18). Also screening with this feature are the short films "RE:AX (Peace Starts With Me)", "Coma" and "Grace".

Elemental: Saturday March 9, 4.30pm. $14, $12, $10 (members & students <18). Also screening with this feature are the short films "A Day In The Life of a Platypus Stalker", "Welcome to Coal World", The Woman Who Eats Weeds", "The Garden Pool" and "a la Francaise".

The Prophet: Saturday March 9, 7pm. $14, $12, $10 (members & students <18). Also screening with this feature are the short films "Alien Alibi", "My Days as an Artwork", "I am Peter. I am an Artist and a Writer" and "Veronika".

Family Friendly Shorts: Sunday March 10, 1pm. $14, $12, $10 (members & students <18)

Quem se importa? (Who cares?): Sunday March 10, 3pm. $14, $12, $10 (members & students <18). Also screening with this feature is the short film "Scatter Joy".

Baikonur: Sunday March 10, 5.30pm. $14, $12, $10 (members & students <18). Also screening with this feature are the short films "First Contact" and "Voice Over".

Virtuosi: Friday March 15, 7.30pm. $14, $12, $10 (members & students <18). Also screening with this feature are the short films "New Year Interlude" and "Sur La Ligne (on The Line) Variation No 2".
