Council has land for sports fields

BYRON Shire Council has moved a step closer to securing a piece of land for Ocean Shores' sports fields.

Councillors this week agreed to put a deposit on a piece of land at Billinudgel, which was offered for sale to council earlier this year.

To follow due process and satisfy ICAC guidelines however, it will first put out a call for expressions of interest from all landholders north of the Brunswick River.

This process should be complete by March, and if as expected, it fails to find another site, the council will secure the land.
