Byron Bay surfer wins ISA World Adaptive Surfing Champs

BYRON Bay surfer Mark "Mono" Stewart has won his category, Stand Up, at the ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championships at La Jolla Shores in California.

This is a huge win for the long-time board rider had to develop his own unique style of surfing after losing his right leg to osteosarcoma (bone cancer) at 15.

"For me personally, surfing in the water equals it up and you forget about your disability," Mr Stewart previously told The Northern Star.

More to come.
