Byron Bay Film Festival success
IT’S the last day of the Byron Bay Film Festival already, and soon all those great movies will be nothing more than memories.
But first there’s the closing night gala ceremony, with the main film of the evening being the American film My Suicide, nominated for both the Best Dramatic Feature and Best Film categories at the festival.
The last day is a melting pot of movies from around the world, including Trickster from Germany, the Spanish O Pintor De Ceos, which translates beautifully into The Painter of the Skies; Under God from the USA and the Australian premiere of Back to the Garden, Flower Power Comes Full Circle, which is nominated for Best Environmental Film.
The Young Australian Filmakers, with 10 films from five minutes to 17, shows the breadth of vision in the next generation of film directors.
And, of course, in case you had forgotten, this is your last chance to indulge your inner surfer with The Arena: North Shore and Fiberglass and Megapixels. Both films are nominated in the Best Surf Film sections of the festival.
The awards for all categories will be announced at the closing ceremony.
