Byron Bay blaze damages home and vehicles

A HOUSE and four vehicles were badly damaged in a fire at Blackbutt Place, Byron Bay this morning.

Fire and Rescue NSW Byron Bay and Bangalow units were called to the blaze about 2.18am, according to Byron Bay Fire Station captain Gary Speers.

The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived at the scene but it was under control after about 15 minutes.

Capt Speers said all occupants were accounted for and no one was injured in the incident but a car and three motorbikes were damaged.

A HAZMAT unit also attended the scene as the house was believed to contain asbestos.

Capt Speers said the cause of the fire was unknown but investigations will continue.
