Byron Bay athletes in hot form

BYRON Bay Little Athletics Club braved the hot weather and set regional records during the South Coast (Qld) Regional Championships at Kingscliff.

Beau Carter took medals in five of his under-9 events.

He won the 200m with a time of 32.40sec and took out the 800m in 2m50.15s.

Beau also ran second in the 70m and 60m hurdles and claimed third in the 100m.

Marlie and Brianna Campton set regional records.

Brianna broke the under-11 girls 800m record by more than three seconds, with the previous set in 1995.

Older sister Marlie smashed the 1500m record in the under-14 girls by five seconds, clocking 4mins 58.13sec. She also set a course record in the 800m.

Jemma Pollock finished first in the under-14 girls Javelin with a throw of 30.54m.
