Byron Bay lads win adventure

FOUR Byron Bay teenagers have won their age division of the Anaconda Adventure Race series on the Gold Coast on Sunday.

The lads – Brendan Irwin, Matt Ogden, Daniel Lamb and Matt Slee – came first in the junior team division, defeating five other teams in the demanding race.

Each of the boys played a vital role in their winning the race – Ogden swam the 2km leg, Irwin ski-paddled 12km, Lamb rode 18km over mountainous terrain and Slee ran the 12km. To complete the race, teams had to run the 2km together to the finish line. In all, it took the quartet 4hs-28mins to complete the course, 27 minutes ahead of the second-placed team.

For their efforts, the boys won medals and over $500 in prizes.
