Busy weekend of water rescues

IT was a busy weekend for Surf Life Saving services on the Far North Coast.

At about 11.20am on Sunday, SLS Support Services responded to a boat which had capsized on the Brunswick Bar.

The Brunswick SLSC was alerted and immediately launched their inflatable rescue boat.

Two middle aged men and a male teenager were all rescued without incident.

Then, at 1.40pm, the Ballina Jet Rescue Boat was tasked to another overturned boat on the Richmond River at Ballina.

Two people were found in the water.

One male was  rescued by the Ballina Jet Boat with another being helped back to shore by a member of the public on a jetski.

One person was transported to hospital for observation.

Later on in the afternoon, the Ballina Jet Boat was again tasked to assist a disabled vessel located east of Ballina.
