Busy weekend for RFS at three different fires

RURAL Fire Services were kept busy over the weekend attending to fires at Woodburn, New Italy and continuing to contain the fire at Lennox Head.

RFS crews spend Friday and Saturday fighting a blaze east of Woodburn which was started by a lightning strike earlier in the week.

They also attended a fire in the New Italy area that was caused by a fallen power line.

Both fires at Woodburn and New Italy are currently in patrol status.

The fire at Lennox head is contained, but RFS crews remain on scene.

An RFS spokesman said due to the swampy conditions and soil that contains peat, RFS crews will continue to do regular patrols at Lennox Head over the day and night today.

Keep an eye on current incidents here.
