Ballina businesses asked about shark impact
A SURVEY is being conducted in Ballina Shire to get some concrete figures on the impact of the recent shark activity in local waters.
The Ballina Chamber of Commerce is conducting the survey, which closes on Friday.
Executive officer of the chamber, Nadia Elliot-Burgess, said there had been some contradictions with anecdotal evidence suggesting a negative impact, but data had in recent times shown little impact.
"We need concrete statistics and dates so we can look for possible opportunities to leverage for funds for promotion of the area and support programs for the area," she said. "This is the school holiday period so it's an ideal time for a great comparison to see what impact has been felt."
The survey has eight questions and Ms Burgess says it doesn't take long to complete.
All businesses in Ballina Shire are invited to contribute to the survey.
See the chamber's website, or contact the chamber on 6681 5049.
North Coast Destination Network also is conducting a survey for industry stakeholders.
