Backburning around Minyon Falls to tackle continuing fire

NATIONAL Parks and NSW Rural Fire Brigade are conducting a backburn of the Minyon Falls area in an attempt to further contain the fire that has been burning there for about three weeks.

Richmond LAC police have advised all roads to the Falls have been closed and there will be an increase of smoke in the area.

The public is urged to stay away from the area.

The Minyon Falls fire is one of only two bushfires burning between Grafton and the border, with the second at the Captains Creek Nature Reserve west of Urbenville.

The Rural Fire Service has the Northern Rivers listed as having a high fire danger today.
