Bunnies Burgess says sorry to footy fans for Cairns incident

SOUTH Sydney enforcer George Burgess has apologised for a late-night incident that saw him charged with smashing a car window in Cairns.

The 21-year was charged with two counts of wilful damage for allegedly throwing a street sign through the rear window of a vehicle after celebrating his team's 30-24 victory over the Titans on Sunday.

"I acknowledge that I am a role model for kids and I will do everything I can to restore my reputation through working harder in the community," Burgess said.

"I have let my team and my family down."

The 120kg powerhouse has been stood down while an investigation continues.
