Bulls cannot stop Warriors’ charge to final

WESTERN Australia is the first team through to Sunday's Matador One-Day Cup final at the SCG despite losing to Queensland in the final round of qualifying games.

The Bulls needed to secure a bonus-point win to overtake the Warriors at the top of the table, and gave themselves a chance by reaching 7-266 after batting first. Opener Usman Khawaja (pictured) moved past 500 runs for the series after being caught in the deep for 120. That followed an opening stand of 151 with Chris Hartley (64).

The Warriors looked likely to haul in the target when they raced to 1-191, but the loss of opener Chraig Simmons for 98 slowed the run rate and they eventually finished at 4-265.

Queensland will now play New South Wales in tomorrow's elimination final, with the winner to meet WA.

In yesterday's other game, South Australia beat Tasmania by 37 runs.
