Bullets hit by second injury blow in a week

BASKETBALL: Brisbane is on the brink of a full-blown injury crisis after Bullets import Torrey Craig left training with an ankle injury.

Just a day after the club confirmed marquee signing Cameron Bairstow had suffered a season-ending ACL injury that will require a knee reconstruction, Craig went crashing to the floor after a collision at Carina.

Craig has been Brisbane's best player in the club's return to the NBL and is in the competition's top 10 for scoring, rebounds, steals, blocked shots and minutes played.

Brisbane plays Melbourne away on Boxing Day and Craig looked at long odds to be fit after being assisted from the court to receive medical attention.

Fellow import Jermaine Beal did not train as his right knee was heavily bandaged and had an ice pack strapped to it.

Bairstow, a former Chicago Bull and Rio Olympian, is set to be sidelined for 12 months after his left knee buckled awkwardly during the overtime period in Monday's loss to Illawarra.

Brisbane (8-9) is formulating its plan to replace Bairstow. It has a vacant third import spot open.
