Bruxner closed by crash, Pacific slowed by holiday traffic

THE Bruxner Highway is closed just west of Lismore after a serious crash near the junction of Coraki Road.

And traffic has slowed to a crawl on parts of the Pacific Highway as school holiday congestion wreaks havoc with traffic.

While it's believed there are no fatalities in the Bruxner Highway crash, several people have been taken injured.

Diversions have been set up to take people around the closed section of the highway, but the Transport Management Centre advises those detours are adding about an hour to travel time.

Southbound motorists on the Pacific Highway between Tintenbar and Ewingsdale can also expect big delays as the road starts clogging up with people heading to Byron Bay for the long weekend.

The Transport Management Centre says there is currently a 2km-long queue of traffic stretching north from the Ewingsdale turn-off.
