Bruce cooks up great snap

PIMLICO'S Bruce Munro hasn't got a great track

record with barbecues - his wife Sherril dobbed him in to say he once set a barbie on fire.

So let's hope he has better luck with the four-burner Matador hooded barbecue he has won in the You and the Big Prawn photo competition run by the Northern Star/Ballina Shire Advocate.

Bruce appeared in a photo holding a frying pan under the giant West Ballina crustacean, and Sherril took the photo.

Sherril said Bruce is pretty good at cooking on the barbecue - except for that time he set one on fire.

That was about eight years ago, and the couple had friends over.

"I don't think he (Bruce) emptied the fat collector, and it caught on fire," Sherril said with a laugh.

"And one of his mates poured a can of beer on it and that made it worse."

Bruce is working out of phone range this week, and couldn't tell us his side of that story.

But Sherril said he wouldn't mind being stitched up because he's a bit of a joker himself.

He came up with the idea of holding the frying pan under the prawn for the photo competition.

And he also sent a photo of himself holding a salad under the prawn and one in which he dressed up like Steve Irwin in classic "Crikey!" pose in front of the crustacean.

Sherril said there were lots of people staring at them when they were taking the photos.
