Brothers finish first and third

LISMORE brothers Glen and Tony Curtis finished first and third in the elite male division at the Spartan Sprint obstacle race in Sydney.

A spear throw saw Tony Curtis seal the win at the end of the 7km race which was a short course event for the Australian title.

"We knew it was going to be a lot harder because it was an Australian title,” Tony Curtis said.

"There was twice as many obstacles as normal and we knew we would have to step it up.

"There was sand bag carries up hills and some really challenging stuff but we enjoyed it.

"We chopped and changed the lead a couple of times early and I got the spear throw on my first attempt without any penalties.”

Tony Curtis will compete in another event on the Gold Coast this weekend while Glen is currently in Canada for the Obstacle Course Racing world titles.

Tony is the older of the two and has competed at numerous events overseas but elected not to go over this year.

"He'll be aiming for a top 20 and he should do really well over there,” Curtis said.
