Bronzed Aussie heats up before Winter Olympics

AUSTRALIA'S Amy Sheehan has continued her great run of form, claiming her second World Cup bronze medal in nine days.

After finishing third in Calgary last week, the 27-year-old (pictured) from Byron Bay jumped into third place on the World Cup standings with another bronze-medal result in Breckenridge in the US.

A year ago, Sheehan finished 15th in a World Cup meet in Sochi, the scene of next month's Winter Olympics, and left Russia with a world ranking of 25.

But since her fiance Chris Boghokian became her coach, Sheehan has taken her results to another level.

"He actually used to build halfpipes so he knows a lot about the sport - he has really helped me a lot," Sheehan said.

While Sheehan has qualified for Sochi, fellow ski halfpipe athlete Davina Williams was 20th in Breckenridge and faces a nervous wait to see whether she has earned a place.
