Broncos Live: Milford out, McGuire in doubt

STATE of Origin has again taken its toll on the Brisbane Broncos' NRL campaign, with five-eighth Anthony Milford sidelined after a heavy hit on Wednesday night.

Milford will sit out Saturday's clash against the Roosters at Allianz Stadium after suffering a concussion in his Origin debut on Wednesday night.

Milford clashed heads with Broncos teammate Corey Oates midway through the second half and did not return to the field in Queensland's 28-4 loss.

His concussion assessment means he must stay out of contact training for six days, opening the door for Benji Marshall or Kodi Nikorima to partner Ben Hunt in the halves.

Brisbane's other five Origin players - Sam Thaiday, Corey Oates, Matt Gillett, Josh McGuire and captain Darius Boyd - emerged relatively unscathed but will be assessed this morning.

McGuire played 70 tough minutes on Wednesday night and is the most likely to be rested.
