Brisbane welcomes home Olympic heroes
A packed Queen Street Mall was awash in a sea of green and gold flags as the athletes made their way through the heart of the city.
Fans both young and old lined the parade route to catch a glimpse of their favourite sporting heroes, who in turn were more than happy to greet their cheering fans.
The loudest screams were without doubt reserved for Australia's newest sporting superstar, Stephanie Rice, with the 20-year-old beauty receiving adoring cheers as her vehicle passed along the parade route towards the reception area in Brisbane Square.
After a brief presentation by Australia's Olympic chief John Coates, and Qld Sports Minister Judy Spence, Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman presented the team with the keys to the city, sparking another massive round of applause.
