Brilliant Lantern Parade graced with a starlit eve

SATURDAY night's Lantern Parade saw a record turnout by the local community on the streets of Lismore on a beautiful if chilly starlit night.

The big crowds lining the parade route through the Lismore CBD were more than matched by the a record 2500-strong procession of locals marching in the parade itself.

Organisations from across the community turned out to hold their lantern aloft, giving the event a genuine local flavour.

Those who attended the fiery finale at Oakes Oval witnessed a magnificent display with fireworks, dancing, flame-twirling and exotic music adding to the ambience, before the massive pyre was set alight.

Parade artistic director Jyllie Jackson said it was another successful year for a  much-loved festival that has solidified its place in Lismore's heart.
