Brewhouse is coming to Bundaberg CBD

THE Bargara Brewing Company will open its craft brewery in Bundaberg's CBD in just over two months.

Company co-founder Jack Millbank said the brewhouse, in the former Salvation Army store on Tantitha St, would be like nothing seen before in the Bundaberg region.

Mr Millbank said customers could visit the brewery and have a beer among the vats which will produce 20 kegs of beer a day.

"Instead of the Rum City, we're going to become Beer City - look out," Mr Millbank said.

The Bargara Brewing Company was launched in November last year and its products are already stocked across Queensland and available through online distributors.

Mr Millbank said was soon expecting the much-anticipated arrival of five shipping containers with tanks from Japan and electronics from Canada for the new brewery.

He said the long lead time on the shipment gave them enough time to find the

perfect CBD location for the

brewhouse.

"We need height for the ceiling and we wanted a big roof area to collect the rain water, because all the beer's going to be brewed on rain water," he said.

"We did a deal (with the building owner). We've got a 15-year (lease) agreement. It's pretty good."

Mr Millbank said everything, including the drinking, could be done on site at the new Brewhouse.

"There's very few places (in Australia) that do commercial scale production and have a craft bar," he said.

"At the Brewhouse, you'll just be sitting in the middle of the brewery."

Mr Millbank said the brewery would be similar to Newstead Brewery in Brisbane, only bigger.

"They've only got 200,000L capacity ... we're about 500,000L," he said.

The new store will offer a variety of craft beers as well as gourmet pizza.

"We don't want to be expensive - we just want to provide good value beer that is independently owned and brewed with authentic ingredients," he said.

"There's no corner--cutting or watering down, just good quality beer."

Mr Millbank also exclusively revealed two new brews were set to launch.

"In about two weeks, we've got our stout coming, a black beer called Black Tail.

"Then about two weeks after that, we've got the Rusty Roo coming out, which will be a red ale.

"It's designed to be a Queensland beer, for the Queensland Reds and Maroons."
