Brett soars with Manly eagles

BRETT Robertson has been a Manly fan for 30 years and to see his favourite rugby league team take out the NRL Grand Final at Homebush Stadium on Sunday was a dream come true.

“It was electrifying,” Mr Robertson said.

“I've got no voice left so I had to drink a lot after the game to calm my throat.

“We had great seats in the first rise near the 20-metre mark.”

Mr Robertson was one of 67 Northern Star  footy tipsters lucky enough to win a ticket to the game and a night at the Sydney's Rydges Hotel in World Square.

“My dad, Richard, played for Manly in reserve grade front row,” Mr Robertson said.

“I remember going to games from when I was six years old to watch him play and I have followed Manly ever since.”

Mr Robertson said watching the grand final was surprisingly emotional.

“It was great,” he said.

“My favourite player is Steve Menzies, and whenever 'Wolf Man' David Williams got the ball we would all yell out 'Wolf Man'.

Northern Star Sales Manager Deb Milgate said the footy tipping competition would start again in January and urged anyone wanting to be a part of it to call her at The Northern Star on 6620 0500.
