Boy stabbed in 'trivial' tiff

A TEENAGE boy remains in a serious condition after being stabbed over what police have described as a "really trivial" tiff in Sydney on the weekend.

About 5.10pm Sunday, a 17-year-old boy staggered towards police on the Hume Highway near Prestons and told them he had been stabbed.

He was taken to the Liverpool Hospital where he underwent surgery to repair several puncture wounds to his abdomen.

On Monday, a 16-year-old boy was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police allege insults were exchanged between the two boys before the 16-year-old pulled out a 15cms knife and repeatedly stabbed the 17-year-old in the stomach.

He was refused bail.
