Things to do the day after the Big Day
IF YOU'RE one of those people predisposed to suffer from post-Christmas Day blues when Boxing Day rolls around, here are some things you can do to keep busy and still in holiday mode on the day after the big day.
Take a picnic
Getting outdoors may just be what the doctor ordered for today..
It's also a great opportunity to take your extended family to some of the most beautiful places in the Northern Rivers. Our pick on the Northern Rivers is the Terania Creek picnic area in the Terania Creek precinct of Nightcap National Park, outside The Channon.
Boxing Day sales are not for the weak at heart.
But if stories of people fighting in the aisles of department stores over doona covers don't turn you off, it may be a great opportunity to grab a bargain.
Specialty stores at Lismore Shopping Square will be open from 10-2pm on Boxing Day and those at Ballina Fair will be open from 10-3pm.
Do something for charity
Boxing Day was traditionally about preparing boxes of food and gifts to distribute to servants and to poor families on the day after Christmas.
So, in keeping with tradition, Boxing Day is a good opportunity to help out those less fortunate.
The Liberation Larder, an organisation in Byron Bay that helps those in need, will be serving meals today. Phone Helen Hamilton 0439 409 655 to be involved in the food service 7am-2.30pm.
