Boxing Day at the races

IT was party time at the Ballina Jockey Club yesterday as hundreds of former locals reunited and joined other holidaymakers in one of the region's most enduring social events of the summer.

For many, the races played second fiddle to socialising in the festive spirit.

It was the start of a busy few weeks with other Ballina meetings coming up on January 10 and 20 before the Iris Nielsen Memorial Handicap day on Sunday, January 29.
