Bowls Singles carries $4000 prize for winner
The annual event attracts quality players from New South Wales and Queensland.
The winner this year will receive $4000.
Sixty-four players competed in elimination rounds last Friday and Saturday for a place in the main event.
Four players from each day’s play will go through to the finals on Sunday.
There is a bevy of local talent including 15-year-old district champion and NSW Under-18 representative Aaron Teys, plus John Lang, Neil Burgess and Tony Scott.
They will have their work cut out against the likes of Brett Wilkie, an Australian and Queensland representative who was runner-up in the International Open Bowls in the UK in November.
Other serious contenders include Queenslanders Brian Baldwin, who won the event two years ago, and Joey Mills, who partnered Brent Cheyne to win the Summerland Pairs last Monday.
Play at Ballina Bowling Club gets under way at 9am each day.
