Born to Sing a talent showcase

PREVIEWS of the upcoming production of Born to Sing have been positive to say the least.

The show, which promises to be an amazing extravaganza of local talent, has been produced by local Doonbah company, Southon Productions.

The energy and enthusiasm behind the project is Jenny Southon, who got the idea for the show after seeing a performance of Celtic Thunder.

"I thought that we could do something similar," she said.

With that in mind, Born to Sing was developed where each of the performers (including children, dancers and singers there are 25) has a chance to show their talent through dance, solos, duets and group songs.

"We have a range of songs for everyone, including a couple of boy band numbers just for fun," Jenny laughed.

The show has been described as a musical experience for the whole family.

After a recent preview, Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell praised the performance on Facebook.

"Fabulous preview...highly recommended," she wrote.

Jenny said each of the performers was hand-picked according to their talent.

"We invited people who we knew would be suitable for what we wanted to do," she said.

With Jenny's background in musical theatre and ballet (teacher for 25 years) it is no surprise that the line-up of talent is phenomenal.

"It's a show for everyone and a chance for the dancers and singers to show their range," she said.

Performances will be at the Lismore Starcourt Theatre on Friday, February 22 at 7.30pm, Saturday, February 23 at 2pm and 7.30pm.

Tickets can be bought at starcourttheatre.com.au, the theatre shop, Star Court Arcade, phoning 6622 5005 or at the door.

Prices are $33 for adults, $25 for pensioners and students or family $100 (two adults and two children).
