Boomerang Fest director returning to region for new project
AFTER a quick jaunt to Sydney to run the 40th anniversary celebration for the Opera House, Boomerang Festival director Rhoda Roberts will return to the Northern Rivers for a new project next month.
Ms Roberts is one of the key players in a new Norpa project, called Bundjalung Nghari: The Gathering, which will host a free community event at Lismore City Hall next month.
Norpa director Julian Louis said the three-year project aims to share Bundjalung culture and stories with Northern Rivers residents.
"The project brings together high profile Indigenous artists with young Bundjalung artists, ushering in the next generation of storytellers and performers," he said.
"We are lucky to have so many leading artists working nationally and internationally who are Bundjalung" .
The first stage of the project gathers artists and community together through conversation, workshops, auditions and performances, Norpa says in a statement.
In the second stage the project will undergo creative development.
In 2015 the show will premier as part of NORPA's Season and will run an additional Season as part of the Boomerang Festival, a key partner in the project.
