Book review: Fated

BOOK: Fated
AUTHOR: Alyson Noel
PUBLISHER: Pan Macmillan Aust
RRP: $16.99

STRANGE things have been happening to Daire Santos - she can navigate between the worlds of the living and the dead.

When she starts having hallucinations her mother is worried she's having a nervous breakdown and packs her off to stay in the dusty plains of Enchantment, New Mexico, with a grandmother she's never met.

There, her grandmother recognises Daire's "episodes" for what they are - a call to her true destiny as a Soul Seeker.

Fated is the first book in the Soul Seeker series by Alyson Noel who wrote the bestselling series The Immortals.

The book had huge promise, but the story just fell a little flat for me.

The characters didn't really stand out. I liked Daire at the start but then she just got "whiney".

However, if you're a fan of Alyson Noel's work, I still suggest you give this book a go.
