Bomb defused at Milperra

A BOMB has been defused at the site of the infamous Milperra bikie massacre.

The street surrounding the Mill Hotel (formerly Viking Tavern) in Milperra was blocked off at 7.30am after a barman discovered a box with wires attached to it outside the pub.

Bomb technicians declared an emergency situation after they found the explosive had a timing advice and potentially could have caused significant damage in the area.

The scene was declared safe about 2.30pm.

The pub is known to be frequented by bikies and was the setting for the bloody father's day shoot-out between members of the Comancheros and Bandinos gangs in 1984.

Six bikies and an innocent teenage girl were killed.
