Body of Sydney mum found in boot of car

A MURDER investigation is under way after the body of a Sydney mother was found in the boot of her car.

A tip-off from a member of the public led police to bushland in Wollongong on Thursday where they found an abandoned car.

Police tried to contact the owner but were unable to find her.

When they returned to search the car in the evening, the 41-year-old's body was discovered in the boot.

Homicide detectives are appealing for anyone who may have seen a white Kia Rio sedan driving erratically in the northern suburbs of Wollongong prior to 2.45pm Thursday to come forward.

Information can be reported to CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
