Body found in Murwillumbah hotel room

POLICE are investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered in a hotel room at Murwillumbah.

About 11.30am on Friday, December 16, staff at a hotel on Tweed Valley Way entered a room and discovered a deceased male.

Emergency services were notified and officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Investigators believe the deceased to be a 59-year-old man who was last seen by staff on Monday, December 12.

A post mortem will be conducted to help investigators determine how the man died.

Officer will prepare a report for the Coroner outlining the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
