Bluesfest busking competitions go ahead

THE semi finals of the Bluesfest busking competition are happening next week, showcasing the best of upcoming music talent from around the country.

The semi finals will be held on Monday, March 21, and Tuesday, March 22, at the Beach Hotel, from 3pm until 10.45pm.

Six finalists will be selected to play on the finals day at the Beach Hotel on Good Friday, March 25.

Previous winners of the Bluesfest busking competition are Grizzlee Train (2015), Eddie Boyd & The Phatapillars (2014), Hussy Hicks (2010) and Kim Churchill (2009).

The under 18s section will also go ahead this weekend, with Three Blue Ducks (The Farm) hosting the Bluesfest Busking Grommets Competition this Saturday and Sunday from 1-4pm.

Finals of the grommet competition will be held at the Beach Hotel, Byron Bay, on Friday, March 25.

All finalists have the opportunity to play at the Busking Stage at Bluesfest this Easter, with recording opportunities available for the winners.
