Blues humbled by Dolphins

THE Far North Coast Emerging Blues 17s received a lesson from Craig McDermott's Gold Coast Dolphins at Murwillumbah on Saturday.

In a crucial match for further selection chances FNC batters in particular squandered an opportunity to impress with an undisciplined display on and off the field.

FNC bowlers, supported by sound ground fielding, contained the strong visiting team to 7 for 198 from 50 overs.

Clunes bowlers, Jarred Seiffert (2-41 from 9 overs) and Dain Moreton, with a fine spell of disciplined spin bowling took 1 for 25 from his 10 overs, were the standouts with the ball.

In reply, though, FNC struggled against a lively attack and managed only 6-132 in their 50 overs.

Tweed opener, Callum Gall 25, aided by a determined Dain Moreton, tried hard but only a 48-run partnership from Murwillumbah pair, Sam Reading 20 and Gabriel Araujo 16 not out off 100 balls, provided something of a fight.
