Blitz tests 1200


LOCAL police breath-tested more than 1200 people late last week as they continue to intensify operations against drink-drivers.

A police spokesman said officers charged five people with drink-driving, charged another seven with other traffic offences, and handed out 120 tickets for speeding, failing to wear a seatbelt and other infringements.

Meanitme three teenagers were booked at Lennox Head and Ballina at the weekend for drinking in alcohol-free zones.

The three - two young men and a woman - were aged 18.
