Blake wins championship

BLAKE Kernaghan, who represents Ballina Little Athletics Club in the Under 9s, recently competed at the Little Athletics State Cross Country Championships held at Scheyville near Windsor.

There were 49 competitors in his race of 1500m and after a hard fought battle Blake came out in first place.

This meant that he defended his title from last year to now have two state gold medals.

This chamionship followed another great result for Blake who also competed at the NSW State Little Athletic Championships at Homebush in March of this year, where he placed second in the U/9 800m event.

Blake's little brother Ryan also competed at the Little Athletic State Cross Country Championships where he finished in the top 20.

Ballina Little Athletics Club runs from October to April catering for ages 3 to 18.
