Bindi Irwin pretty in pink as she salsas towards DWTS final
BINDI Irwin brought happiness to the dance floor on Dancing With The Stars today.
The wildlife conservationist performed an energetic, if not sexy, salsa to Aussie singer Sia's tune You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.
"It's raining happiness," Bindi exclaimed after the routine.
While the choreography didn't feature as much side-to-side hip action as the judges wanted to see, they still awarded Bindi and her dance partner Derek Hough with a near perfect score of 27 out of 30.
"That was a perfect song for who you are and what you represent in this competition,," Julianne Hough said.
Carrie Ann Inaba added: "Be careful you are so clean but sometimes we want to see the edgy come out."
In a pre-taped package Bindi also opened up about what it was like growing up filming documentaries with her family.
"Every single day was like living in this beautiful hurricane," the 17-year-old said.
Her mum Terri also spoke about her caterpillar-to-butterfly like transformation into a young woman.
Bindi found that hip movement in her next routine, a samba dance-off against Nick Carter.
She easily won the head-to-head battle and then managed to earn another perfect score with her final routine of the night, a trio with Hough and Mark Ballas.
The minimalist jazz performance couldn't have been any more different to her opening number as she danced inside and on top of a metal box and twirled a rope with a light bulb on the end of it.
Inaba compared the inventive routine to the standard of a professional dance company, while Bruno Tonioli said it was an intriguing work of genius.
"You are like my little ninja warrior princess... you didn't miss a beat," Julianne Hough said.
All four of the remaining celebrity dancers will progress to next week's grand final after Tamar Braxton was forced to pull out of the competition for health reasons.
Bindi is still the favourite to take out the show's mirror ball trophy and she currently sits at the top of the leader board with Carlos PenaVega.
