Big year ahead for Evans

BROTHERS Noah, 9 and Oscar, 7, Forrester, of Evans Head, are excited about starting another year of playing rugby league.

The boys played with the Evans Head Junior Rugby League football club last year and are looking forward to the 2012 season.

"I like scoring tries," Noah said.

"But I like playing the game too."

Mum and dad Libby and Ian estimated that Noah scored about 10 tries last season.

With a new committee, including new president Jeremy Bryant, the club is looking forward to a healthy season.

"Last year we had five teams but this year I'd like to get seven to eight teams," Jeremy said.

"We've got some good young kids and we are looking forward to a successful year."

Sign-on days for the junior league are February 11 and 18 at Stan Payne Oval between 9am and 11am.

"For players who register on those days, they will be entitled to take part in a coaching clinic to be run by the Brisbane West Panthers football team on February 25," Jeremy said.

"We will also be holding a family fun day on February 25 between 10.30am to 2pm and players can still sign on that day."

The family fun day will have activities such as sack races and pass the footy relays and will be followed by a senior Bombers football trial game in the afternoon. Canteen will be available.

"Players signing up for any of the days are advised to bring a copy of their birth certificate, passport-size photo and their Medicare number," Jeremy said.

"If they have any problems they can call me on 0422 585 226."
