82-year-old woman somehow lands on sex-aid mailing list

WHILE her interests may be floral art, crosswords, letter writing and sewing trauma teddies, boosting her performance in the bedroom does not even come anywhere near 82-year-old Betty Lowis' radar.

But that didn't stop a mystery person, known only as J, from mailing her a mock newspaper, advertising a potent, natural herb from Malaysia promising to be an Asian aphrodisiac and an effective stimulant for men.

Attached to the four-page newspaper was a handwritten, yellow Post It note which read: Try this. It really works. J.

"When I first opened it I couldn't make head or tails of it," Mrs Lowis said.

The paper claims the man by the name of Dr Johari to be the "king of Togkat Ali", which is the root that is harvested that allegedly "boosts sexual performance and enhances pleasure".

"It's just not on as far as I'm concerned," Mrs Lowis said.

While the lists of "guaranteed" sexual enhancements may be too crude to be published in the NewsMail, the mock newspaper sent to Mrs Lowis does not leave too much to the imagination.

"At my age, I wouldn't be the least bit interested in it," Mrs Lowis said.

"I wouldn't have been interested in it at any time."

Mrs Lowis said of all the years receiving junk mail, never had she received any with a handwritten note.

"I don't understand - the letter was posted in LA but up in the corner it's got a New South Wales address," she said.

"What upsets me is if they meant it for someone else, how did I come on their mailing list for that sort of stuff?

"It's a bit worrying they would have your name on those lists."

Mrs Lowis said she wanted to warn others about what could be lurking in their letterboxes.

"I would hate to think that other old ladies are getting stuff like that in the mail as well," she said.
