Benefit day for Josh's kids, wife
JOSH Newman from Casino had his life tragically cut short in a motorbike crash on May 12.
Friends and family have organised a fundraising day for his family for this Sunday.
Aged only 23, Mr Newman left behind his partner Annamieka and their two children, Blake, 9, and Sharla, 2.
Annamieka was pregnant at the time of the accident and has given birth since to a boy she named Kayne.
"In response to this tragic accident, Josh's friends and family have since rallied around Annamieka and their children and decided to hold a fundraising family day at the Casino Golf Club on Sunday to help support them through this difficult period of their lives," event co-organiser Fred Imeson said.
"The fundraising day will provide entertainment by popular Toowoomba band Double Barrel, which will play all day, free.
"The family day will have a touch of fame added with a couple of members of the 2011 championship-winning Queensland Reds Super 15 team making an appearance."
A sporting memorabilia auction will be held with an enormous range of great items up for grabs.
They include Ben Kennedy's NSW State of Origin jersey signed by the whole team, Chris Munce's jockey silks signed by all riders in the 2011 Epsom Handicap and a Queensland Reds jersey signed by the winning Super 15 team.
Raffles will be held with great prizes including a 50% share of a pedigree greyhound pup. A nearest-the-pin competition will be held with the major prize a flat screen TV.
"Please get out and help a young family that requires all the support that they can get during their heartbreaking time," Mr Imeson said.
