AS A boy, Ben Jewell would flick through car magazines and imagine being behind the wheel of a Corvette.

After owing 34 different cars, mostly Australian muscle cars, Mr Jewell was able to fulfil his childhood dream and drive his own 1971 454 big block Corvette through the streets of his home town in 2008.

"How it sits is how it came out of the factory," Mr Jewell said.

"I haven't modified it in any way.

"This colour combination, with the power windows and power steering, only 600 would have come off the production line.

"In this colour combination, I would say there would only be three others like it in Australia.

"I just love the car."

Mr Jewell now is hoping to share his passion for the iconic American machine over the Easter weekend when the 25th Corvette Nationals come to Toowoomba.

Already 60 Corvette owners have registered for the weekend.

The national event is staged every year by the Corvettes Down Under Club, of which Mr Jewell is a member.
