Being welcomed into the Village
A FEW years ago, Max and I met the Village People backstage in Brisbane at Eatons Hill Hotel.
Village People are known for the hits Y.M.C.A, In The Navy and Macho Man.
There was an Indian, a G.I, policeman, cowboy, biker and a cool dude.
The name Village People refers to people of authority and notoriety in a small village.
Recently Max and I caught up with them again at The Star Casino at the Gold Coast.
Thanks to Facebook I have kept in touch with Felipe (Indian and co-founder of Village People and Jimmy (cowboy).
They invited us backstage to hang with them.
As useful at any gig, navigation was required with security, staff and management to make our backstage meet-up happen.
During the concert interval we proceeded to the stage door and were escorted to the band.
There were hugs, laughter and much chatter for our reunion.
Later Felipe sent a photo of his vest, authentic American Indian attire.
This was the beginning of a great friendship and started discussions of their visit to Oz next year.
Max was also given a real Indian feather from Felipe as a friendship token and has since had it framed with Felipe's autograph.
Continue the great music, boys and Music Man will carry on with his adventures.
