Beautiful sunset makes a good Photo of the Day for Mykayla

Sunset. Mykayla Wilton

CONGRATULATIONS to Mykayla Wilton who scores her first Photo of the Day today with this magnificent sunset photo.

Mykayla has submitted images for Photo of the Day a few times now and they have all been beautiful shots. However, yesterday was the first time she made it through the poll, with readers giving her a solid 56% of the vote.

Mykayla's image was one of two in an unusually tight field yesterday. It had been up against an awesome photo from Jennifer Hill of a pod of dolphins surfing the waves off North Wall at Ballina.

Photo of the Day is intended to highlight the natural beauty of the Northern Rivers and the talent of the region's photographers. As well as appearing here it is published on Page 2 of our print edition, is used as the cover image on our Facebook page and forms part of an expanding gallery, which you can see below.

To submit an image for Photo of the Day, simply go to our Facebook page and share it.

Okay, I know I say this every day, but we have some fantastic images to choose from for tomorrow's Photo of the Day.

There is a great variety of images today, from the beautiful landscapes of Sera Wright, Chris Hosie, and Mykayla Wilton to Karin Taylor's amazing jumping spider to Rebecca Ludstrom's experiment in cuteness with her goldfish photo.

Have a look at the poll below and pick your favourite. You can see bigger versions of the images by clicking on the gallery link here, or within the poll itself.

Voting closes at noon.
