Beale fit and ready for All Blacks test

RETURNING Wallabies star Kurtley Beale will be fit and firing for the opening Bledisloe Cup on Saturday in Sydney, according to coach Michael Cheika.

Doubts surfaced about Beale's fitness for the game after the playmaker suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Wasps in the finals of the English premiership in May.

But Cheika said the playmaker - who'll likely play inside centre for the Wallabies - has overcome his injury issues and be eligible for selection.

"He is back in full training now,” Cheika said.

"There is no fitness test (required). He had his injury and a while back and had a bit of a setback in his rehab overseas, but then since he's been back he is now passing all the levels we needed him to.

"He has done full contact training and so he's fine.”

Speaking at a Penrith district junior gala day where Wallabies players signed autographs, mannged the barbecue and ran water, Cheika said Same Kerevi (pectoral muscle) was also back to full fitness.

Winger Dane Haylett-Petty remains the only player in any doubt, but the Wallabies coach said he is confident DHP will overcome an elbow complaint.

Reece Hodge would likely come into the side if Haylett-Petty doesn't make it. Curtis Rona has impressed Cheika, however, and there is a strong chance the Force and former NRL player will jag a bench spot.
