Barn owl down, but office staff give a hoot
ONE lucky little creature, who we've nicknamed Barney the barn owl, was found feeling somewhat confused and concussed this morning, after assumedly having collided with our Northern Star Goonellabah office window.
Our compassionate and quick acting journalists were on the scene and dialling our local WIRES service as soon as they spotted him.
Local WIRES volunteer, Julie Marsh was prompt to respond, arriving at our office within 15 minutes of receiving the call.

Julie said she would take our little casualty to the local WIRES bird co-ordinator, also a rapture specialist, for a full assessment this afternoon; but reported that at the moment the patient is upright once again and has been prescribed a warm, restful environment where he can be rehydrated before his potential release back at our site tonight.
"We'll just keep him hydrated today and nice and warm and quite so he has time to get over his headache," she said.

"When we release him, which will most likely be at dusk tonight, we'll take him back to the site where we found him, as they often have family in the area."
